Choosing a kitchen splashback can sometimes be overwhelming with a vast array of materials, colours and designs. Choosing the perfect kitchen splashback will depend on your budget, personal style and kitchen design you are working with. Follow these tips and tricks to ensure you choose the right splashback for your kitchen.
Kitchen Benchtop
Since your kitchen splashback sits directly above your kitchen bench top the best approach is to select your bench top material first as this can eliminate many splashback materials and designs which will clash with your bench top. There are fewer choices for benchtop materials than splashback materials so this will narrow down your choices and make for an easier selection. If your bench top design is neutral this allows you to go for a more detailed kitchen splashback design and vice versa.
Material
Many popular kitchen splashback materials include glass, mirrored glass, tiles, stone, stainless steel and metal. Consider your kitchen style before selecting your preferred splashback material. If you are going for a traditional look, consider tiles or metal. For contemporary kitchens, glass is a great choice with endless colour options. You could even consider using the same material as your bench top for a consistent and streamlined look.
Colour
Depending on your chosen bench top and splashback material, now is the time to decide whether you wish to opt for a minimalist splashback design which will complement your kitchen bench top or plan your splashback as a bold feature wall with an eye-catching design. A contrasting colour to your bench top will add interest and a focal point but choosing similar colours will tie your whole kitchen design together.
Still having trouble?
Your kitchen splashback is usually one of the last components to be installed in a new kitchen. If you are still deciding on your favourite splashback design, you may wish to wait until the majority of the kitchen is installed so you can better visualize which material, colour and design will add the perfect finish to your kitchen.

Great tips! Choosing your perfect Kitchen Splashback is really challenging.
For me, I would probably have to go with a splashback that was made out of tile. Mainly because of the traditional look and that it is easy to clean. For the color, perhaps a gray or white would do. I’ll also probably have to see about getting someone to install it for me since I’m not terribly knowledgeable when it comes to things like this.
